What I Do
As you can probably tell, my interests are somewhat diverse. I write, act, sing, direct, design, edit...and I even dance on occasion! I also enjoy crafting hobbies such as knitting and scrapbooking; basically anything artistic I have done and I love it!
I have had the privilege of acting as an extra in a couple of films, including The Song, a faith-based film which just premiered in theaters recently. I also worked behind the scenes as a hair and makeup artist in an indie film, As it is in Heaven, as well as several student films on campus. I have even directed 2 short films, 3 live broadcasts, and a commercial.
Who I Am
Hi! My name is Chelsea Long. I am 23 years old, and I am about to graduate from college. (Yay!) I am double-majoring in Media Communication with an emphasis in Media Performance and Theatre/Cinema Performance with an emphasis in Acting. My dream is to go into musical theatre, or maybe even television one day!
Why I Blog
I blog as a means of expressing my thoughts and ideas to the world. I love writing, and as a writer, it is important that I share these thoughts and ideas through the written word. I blog about topics I am passionate about. I blog to share my personal convictions.
Sometimes my blog posts challenge the tradition of the Church. Other times, my blog posts challenge the views of secular society. I do not claim to have all the answers. I know my beliefs are sometimes wrong. My goal is simply to challenge my readers to think for themselves; to critique their perspectives and question why they believe what they do; and to refuse to follow tradition simply because it is what has always been done. Faith is beautiful, but if we do not own it for ourselves, it will never come alive.
What I Believe
I believe in the Almighty God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit - the Trinity - one God, three Persons. He is my Savior, my Comforter, my Redeemer, and my Best Friend. I owe Him my life. I am the person I am today because of who He has made me to be.
I believe that the Bible was written by God-fearing human beings who were fallible but nonetheless inspired by the Holy Spirit. I believe that the Law can be summed up in one sentence: "Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself." I believe that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law, and if we center our lives aound Him, everything else will fall into place.
I believe in gender equality. I am a feminist, by the true definition of the word. This does not mean that I think women are better than men, but rather that men and women are created equal. Both men and women can be strong. Both men and women can be sensitive. Women have just as much right to a career as men, and they deserve equal pay. The world has come a long way, but there are still many women who are abused by men, and much more can still be done to resolve this problem.
I am also prolife, because I strongly believe that life begins at conception, and all human beings have the right to live. I also believe the abortion industry is oppressive of women, and is therefore anti-feminist.
